Namibia prophesied doomed (not)
NAMIBIA should brace itself for a destructive earthquake if church leaders do not repent and stop “preaching the gospel of prosperity”.
This was the stern warning of Kenyan ‘prophet’ David Owuor.
In a video, which also features on Youtube, Owuor said God was very unhappy with churches in Namibia.
“The horrific judgement of the Lord” was made known to him in “a tremendous, mighty vision”, he roared in the short video clip.
He said it was revealed to him that the church and particularly the pastors should repent from corruption, do away with the gospel of prosperity and the love of money and the decay that was the order of the day in Namibian churches.
He added that the vision also called for purging the church of sexual sins and false prophets and prophecies.
Out of fear that this ‘prophecy’ will be fulfilled, a group of Namibians are organising a national day of prayer.
Upon enquiry, the main organiser, Pascal Hakizimana, yesterday told The Namibian: “We believe him. He doesn’t just speak...”
Owuor is said to have predicted the devastating earthquake in Haiti and other tremors.
According to another organiser, Trudy Tjikongo, they are calling for Namibians to show up in large numbers at the planned prayer event, for which no date has been fixed yet. She agreed with Owuor that “God has a problem with Namibia”.
“We say we are true Christians but we are not. They (pastors) only talk about money, money, money.”
Brian Philander of the Gospel Mission Church in Rehoboth is a pastor who does not shy away from promoting prosperity.
When approached for comment yesterday, he called on Namibians to take these prophecies with a pinch of salt. “In principle, I am quite cautious to just believe everything. I know there are people to whom the Lord made a number of revelations about the future, but I don’t know this person.”
He conceded that he firmly believes in promoting prosperity through the gospel.
“The reason is that our people live in poverty and they need to be drawn out of that. It is not about personal wealth but more about a channel through which the Lord can help others.”
